This program consists of cutting-edge knowledge and latest development in essential areas and topics of electronics and communication engineering. It gives students relevant skills and core knowledge of the latest methods, tools and technologies, which are applied in operating and designing telecommunication networks. Essentially, the program offers an engineering program that focuses on both theoretical and practical aspects of telecommunication engineering. More specifically, students will learn about necessary skills in various fields such as electronics engineering, data communications, wireless networks, VLSI & embedded systems, in addition to digital communications. The program offers an Engineering degree equipped with practical experience needed for the success in telecommunication industry, government services, research institutions or universities.
The curriculum of Electrical – Electronics Engineering is adapted from the curriculum of The University of Manchester (United Kingdom), who was ranked 38th in QS Ranking 2014 for Electrical Engineering field. The curriculum is highly practical-oriented, especially, the students can have hands-on experience with modern equipment provided by world-leading corporations such as Tektronix and Keysight Technologies (USA).
By pursuing the Bachelor degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, students are provided with basic knowledge of the field as well as the specialized knowledge and skills in one of the following areas:
a. Telecommunication, data and computer networking:
- Students are provided necessary knowledge and skills to analyze and master the structure, functionality, and operating principles of modern communication systems such as mobile communication networks from 2G to 5G (GSM, UMTS, LTE, etc.), optical communication systems, computer networks (LAN, WAN, Internet), audio and video broadcating systems, satellite communications, global positioning system (GPS), and so on.
- Students are well-trained on the skills of computing, designing, manufacturing, installing, operating, maintaining, and fixing communication devices and systems.
- Students are also instructed to be able to find novel signal processing algorithms, to analyze, evaluate and improve the performance of current systems and to optimize the use of limited resource in communications including bandwidth, signal power, and time.
b. Applied electronic circuits: students are provided with knowledge about the physical characteristics of electronic devices and circuits, about the methods to analyze and design elctronic modules serving for vast demand of human life in every aspects, for example, remote control devices, fire alarm, burglar alarm, displaying devices, short and medium distance transceivers, etc.
c. Microelectronics and intergrated circuit design: provides the knowledge on the physical characteristics of semiconductor devices and materials, principle and technology to design digital and analog micro and nano integrated circuits with low power consumption (FPGA, ASIC) to serve for the manufacturing of high-tech and high-accuracy devices.
d. Digital audio, image, and video processing: provides the knowledge and skills to analyze, design, program the digital signal processing algorithms on audio, video, and image signals, to implement the applications such as audio and image enhancement, data compression, object identification, speech recognition and synthesis, music applications, etc. These algorithms can be applied in various areas, from entertainment, electronic commercial, to traffic control or security, criminal affairs.

Students who graduate with the Bachelor degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering can find their jobs in the following posittions:
a. Governmental organizations: including research centers and institutes; the telecommunication service management of different levels: City Post Office, Local Post Office, central and local televisions (HTV, SCTV, VTV); companies working on communication services such as Viettel, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), etc., and a lot of branch companies: VTC Telecom, VTC Intecom, VTN, VTI, etc.; universities and colleges that have programs related to Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
b. Private companies and corporations, foreign companies: there are a lot of private companies working on electronics and telecommunication field. Their main purposes include product selling and distribution, consulting, designing, and maintaining communication systems. This opens plenty of opportunities for students who graduate from this field:
- Famous foreign corporations like Siemens, Alcatel, Ericsson, etc. Consumer electronic device (desktop, laptop, etc.) companies such as Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, LG, HP, etc.
- Microelectronic design: Renesas, Intel, etc.
- Telecom equipment and solution companies: Siemens, Tektronix, Rohde & Schwarz, Keysight Technologies, etc.
c. Other opportunities: students who graduate from Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering field and have research about signal processing can work in the companies in related fields such as computer science, biotechnology, or medical engineering. Students who pursue the telecom and data networking field can also work in large companies having the demand to build up an inside communication network, for example, banks, schools, hospitals, etc.
The Expected Learning Outcomes (ELOs) is the starting point of the curriculum design process and is built according to a rigorous, scientific process in which it reflects the vision and mission of the university and faculties and is suitable to the course objectives and meets the needs of stakeholders.
The ELOs will be concretized according to the principle of “directional compatibility” in step-by-step subjects to help learners gain professional qualifications & skills in knowledge, skills, attitudes and professional responsibilities after completing the training program. The curriculum is a system of theoretical and practical knowledge that is designed synchronously with the method of teaching, learning and evaluating learning outcomes to ensure learners accumulate knowledge, gain the necessary competencies according to the published expected learning outcomes corresponding to the university level.
