Bandung International School is a dynamic family school serving the multicultural community in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia.

The Bandung International School is a private, independent, nonprofit, secular and co-ed school located in Bandung, Indonesia. It was established in 1972 and now serves the needs of the expatriate and local community in Bandung. The Pre-school to Grade 12 student population is approximately 240 and represents 24 nationalities.

The language of instruction is English. Our interactive, inquiry-based programme is designed to offer high academic standards through innovative teaching and learning practices. BIS is fully accredited by the Council of International School (CIS) based in UK; the New England Associations of Schools and Colleges (NEASC based in USA) and authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization in Geneva, Switzerland to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP) in the Elementary School from Early Childhood to Grade 5 and the IB Diploma Program in Grades 11 & 12.

At BIS we are concerned with developing the concept of what it means to be “internationally educated” and integrating this into the life of our school. We strive to build on the common factors that bring our multicultural community together. We seek to engage our students in an education, which will help them to develop into knowledgeable, open-minded, well-balanced and reflective thinkers and inquirers, who are principled, caring, and prepared to take risks. We encourage them to be aware of their own creative, physical, social and emotional selves; and to communicate well, so that they will become effective local, national and world citizens

BIS’s 48 years of experience in Bandung, our diversity and commitment to the IB and the international curriculum certainly set us apart from schools in the city. However, what is really special about BIS is the small community that we have created and nurtured over the years. Once you step on the school campus, the community feel is almost palpable. This sense of community is a hallmark of BIS.

How do we build this community at BIS? We endeavor to create a collective efficacy between students, teachers and parents. When each stakeholder works collaboratively towards a common goal, great results will occur no matter the obstacles; there is a growth mindset that we maintain.

We understand that forming a strong triangular relationship between parents, students and the school helps to enhance student achievement and builds trust between the school and our families. To do this successfully is no small feat and by no means do we take what has been built for granted.
