International School of Myanmar
Description
We are very proud of our school and program which provides students with an excellent international education and prepares them to enter the top universities and colleges throughout the world.
ISM has been providing outstanding American education with highly qualified international teachers to students and families in Myanmar for over 20 years. Our students in High School take Advanced Placement (AP) courses and graduate with a US High School Diploma that is accepted in colleges and universities worldwide. In addition, we offer a large variety of activities in sports, music, and the arts.
Throughout the student’s educational journey at ISM, they are provided with a warm and caring learning environment. ISM, as a community of lifelong learners, prepares students with the knowledge and skills, understandings, and attitudes to become independent and socially responsible citizens who are successful in their future learning opportunities and in meeting the challenges of an ever-evolving world.
At ISM we believe that a strong athletic program can, as part of the school’s overall goals, improve academic performance, and help prepare students to both enjoy and be successful in life. Students at ISM have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of Sports, Athletics, and Activities at the high school, middle school, and elementary school levels. At the high school level, our students compete as individuals, and in Varsity, and Junior Varsity teams. At the middle school level, our students compete as individuals, and in A-Team, and B-Teams. At the elementary level, our students start competing as per grade level starting from Grade 3. ISM athletic teams put forth hard work, leadership, camaraderie, sportsmanship, and fair play while promoting and fostering a desire to learn about and from athletics.
ISM is a member of the Yangon Athletic Conference (YAC) a collaboration of four international schools in Yangon, Myanmar. All of these schools compete against each other in sports and engage in a variety of activities including; Model United Nations and Global International Network.
Throughout the various seasons, ISM competes with a variety of other international schools that are part of the MISAC conference in Yangon. At the end of every season, the YAC teams compete at the high school, middle school, and elementary levels. Our practice sessions take place every day in the morning as well as after school under the guidance of an experienced coach. Most of the seeding/friendly games are held during the week and the end of the season tournaments are held over the weekends.
The success of our program is dependent upon the expertise and dedication of our coaching staff, and the spirit and network of cooperation that links our coaches with the ISM administration, parent community, and ultimately the fine ISM student-athletes themselves.
