PADETC (Participatory Development Training Center) is a training center promoting participatory processes for sustainable development. 

Learning Centers

1.Suanmailao Eco-Forest Learning Center

The main mission of the Center, which was started in 2009 with four main staff members, is to educate young people and the general public on the importance of ecology in relation to holistic education and development.

Suanmailao has developed training programs, which include:

Wisdom box
Using the “Wisdom Box” tool to promote holistic education and development.

Training of Trainers
Project management
Leadership for Development
Team power and happiness
Volunteerism for development
Community forest development and reforestation
Environmental protection and camping
Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS)
Community baseline survey, analysis and village development plan

2.Panyanivej Eco-Rice Fish Farm
The mission of Panyanivej is to educate young people and the general public about integrated rice-based farming systems and use of low input sustainable agriculture techniques.

3.Thateng Integrated Organic Farm

The mission of the farm is to be a training ground for young people and farmers in the four Southern provinces which share the rich volcanic soil of the Bolaven Plateau. Thateng Integrated Organic Farm provides training and technical assistance on appropriate technologies for food production, resource management, and income generation. Thateng Farm runs projects and training in diverse activities such as organic silk, vegetables and fruit production and making organic compost.

4.Dok Lao Media Service

Its key activities include:

Training of young film makers
Production of short films in collaboration with youth volunteer networks in provinces
Development of handbooks on film making.

5. Development Monk Network

Training modules have been developed for both monks and students and these are revised and improved regularly. The national monastic school at Wat Ong Teu is in the process of incorporating these modules into its formal program.

6.Saoban Crafts

Saoban Crafts is a social business that works with traditional artisans to preserve and promote Lao village crafts. Saoban works under the principles of fair trade in order to create employment opportunities for villagers, especially women, and reduce poverty.

7. Youth Volunteers Network

The Youth Volunteer program was developed by PADETC to contribute to the learning of children and adolescents in the formal schooling system by providing leadership training and experience in community service.
