At Regent Music Centre, we offer our music courses with creativity and passion. We believe in conducting music lessons in a conducive environment to help our students achieve their very best. This is why we do not conduct group classes but rather, deliver the lessons on an individual basis by our dedicated and patient teachers.
The ideal start-up course for most children from five years old and up. Adults are also welcome. Some of the topics at Beginners’ level include reading of staff and ledger notes, understanding rests, finger exercises, scales, performing simple melodies etc. Higher levels at all grades using ABRSM syllabi from Grade 1 up to Diploma levels are available. Hold On. 3 to 5 year-olds are most welcome to size us up and give nature and nuture a chance to develop together.
If you wish to perform popular tunes and contemporary hits, this course may be of interest to you.
This course is ideal for teens and adults alike and especially so for those who had some piano lessons before, even if you had stopped at a certain grade or even at ABRSM Grade 8. The wide repertoire includes popular standards and evergreens including Mandarin tunes.
Similar to Pop Piano except that the tunes taught will be Jazz standards, Bossa Novas, R&B etc. Other topics include chords and rhythmic applications, modes and their uses, improvisation, melodic lines and methods of introduction and ending, Ad lib phrasing etc. Good for students with some background and who have an interest in all things Jazz. ABRSM Jazz Piano Grades 1 to 5 lessons are available.
Music theory is included in the piano practical lessons from Beginner’s level up to Grade 4 ABRSM. From Grade 5 up, the music theory is taught separately from the piano practical lessons. Students of other musical instruments can opt for ABRSM Theory lessons from Grade 1 to 8 which will be taught separately.
Leisure courses for the acoustic or classical guitar are available. Chord strumming and melody playing for beginners. Also works by Carcasi, Sor, Aguado et al are included at intermediate level. Guitars are supplied during lessons.
Specially for the advanced pianists, semi and professional pianists who want to learn more about the techniques used and the art of performing in hotel lounges or at functions. Improvisation, Ad lib, methods of intro and ending, chord substitution, chord alteration, reharmonisation, embellishments, rhythmic styles, modes and their uses etc. are some of the subjects taught.
