“TO CHAMPION AND DEVELOP TRAINEES OF THE RONALD SUSILO BADMINTON ACADEMYTO GROW  PROFESSIONALLY AND MENTALLY THROUGH OUR CUSTOMIZED AND STRUCTURED TRAINING PROGRAMS.”

Originally from Jakarta, Ronald Susilo moved to Singapore in 1993 when he was 14 years old to further his studies. He joined Anglo Chinese School (Independent). Although he had been playing badminton since he was eight years old, it was in ACS(I) that he really found his game. Ronald joined the Singapore Badminton Association in 1998 and started training with the national team. Through hardwork and perseverance, he dominated the national games during his playing career and progressed to the international scene.

The highlight of his career was in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games where he had the honour of being the Singapore contingent’s flag-bearer. At Athens, he defeated the then world number one player in the world: Lin Dan (China).

In 2004, Ronald was ranked world number six (men’s singles). The historic achievement of defeating the world number one and making the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games earned him the Singapore Sportsman of the Year title in 2005.

In 2010, he started the Ronald Susilo Badminton Academy in Singapore and is now the Head Coach of the Academy. He leads a team of coaches who were former national players from Singapore and the region.

With his achievements and experience on the world badminton scene, Ronald currently leads the Academy as the Head Coach. The Academy welcomes children, youth and adult trainees. We have tailored training programmes for beginners; for those who hope to better their social game; and for aspiring players who hope to join school teams or to compete internationally.
