Tokyo Central Japanese Language School (TCJ) was founded in 1988. Since then we have set up our goal as helping realize students’ dreams through language learning, and the school has kept improving under that goal. “Japanese Teacher Training Course” is also held at the same building. Furthermore, TCJ provides rich opportunities to communicate with the Japanese students. We understand that life abroad may not all be good times, and all of our TCJ teachers and staff will support the students’ life with our whole heart.

Since its establishment in 1998, students from more than 70 countries around the world have studied at TCJ，and we have been able to help them achieve their dreams of further education, employment, etc. TCJ is an industry leading Japanese language school located in Shinjuku, the heart of Tokyo. The school is located in a quiet area overlooking the outer gardens of Meiji Shrine, making it an ideal place for study. Moreover, TCJ is one of the largest institutions in Japan for training Japanese language teachers, and is recognized both in Japan and abroad for its high level of Japanese language education. With students from 30 to 40 countries, mainly from Asia, but also from Europe, the Middle East, North America, Central and South America, and Oceania, the school has a multinational atmosphere where students can enjoy international exchange on a daily basis.

The school provides students with a high level of Japanese language communication and cultural adaptability to help them achieve their future goals in Japan. We have achieved a high level of success in higher education and employment through careful guidance. We also offer Japanese language lessons for foreigners living in Japan and an online Japanese language course for overseas students.

It is said that only about 5% of all Japanese language schools have a training course for Japanese language instructors. We continue to improve the quality of Japanese language education by training and hiring professional teachers in-house.

Because of our unique teacher evaluation model, TCJ is able to ensure that our teachers are highest quality, not only in terms of classroom behavior and teaching skills, but also in terms of providing high level of career guidance.

Students are also regularly surveyed about the content of their teachers’ lessons to help them provide higher quality education.

Furthermore, all students are interested not only in finding their desired career path, but also in being able to use the Japanese that they have studied in society.

TCJ has developed an original teaching model for beginner, intermediate, advanced, and super-advanced levels to help the students improve their communication skills in speaking, listening, writing, and reading. In addition, we measure achievement of four skills and provide students with accurate feedback in each semester.

TCJ also offers classes that aim to improve social skills through discussion and sharing of social, cultural, and economic perspectives of Japan as part of our curriculum and elective classes.

TCJ helps students not only to succeed in the admissions and employment process, but also to develop their communication and social skills so that they can be successful in the future.

We have the support systems to encourage students to get used to the life in Japan easily by introducing part-time jobs, accommodations, and so forth. Students are encouraged to participate in various cultural activities to learn and understand Japan.

We provide various course plans that can answer students’ demands. You can choose a course plan according to your purpose.

The shortest course is the summer program which is for 2 weeks.

This year, we opened a brunch school.

You can study with a nice view from the windows. On a sunny day, you may have a chance to see Mt. Fuji from the classrooms.

Students are trained with 4 skills: speking, listening, writing and reading in a balanced way. Individual students have different objectives for studying Japanese. To meet various needs, TCJ offer elective classes for students who have learned basic Japanese.

Students will learn not only the Japanese language that is used in business occasions but also Japanese business culture and manners during each lesson with a cozy atmosphere. The course will also involve the contents in preparation of Business Japanese Proficiency Test (BJT).

JLPT Special Preparatory Course
