Westlake International School (WIS)
Westlake International School (WIS) is a purpose-built school with boarding facilities and is located in Kampar, Perak. The school mission is to provide the B.E.S.T education experience to local and global students:
1. We aim to be a Boarding school that guides and develops young people into responsible adults with integrity
2. We aim to provide an Environment that educates excellently and holistically
3. We aim to develop students who excel in Sports as well as in the classroom
4. We aim to always provide excellent Teaching and learning experiences We believe that every that every child is unique and is capable of achieving his or her full potential. We strive to achieve this through three pillars of excellence: our child-centered educational philosophy, character building and community partnership.
As a Boarding School of repute, our purpose built campus overlooking a serene lake, nestled within the Kinta Valley mountain range offers students the perfect environment to focus and flourish. The wide range of programmes in school and boarding are designed to nurture the unique talents of each individual.
Throughout the years, WIS has achieved remarkable results both in the academic and sports arenas. In 2017, we saw our students entering prestigious top-tier universities such as Yale, Manchester and Melbourne. In sports, our school teams have also attained impressive wins at district and state levels. These encouraging achievements not only reflect the hard work and determination of our students but also the dedication and investments of all WIS educators, be they teachers, boarding house parents, or administrators. Such strong foundation built will definitely augur well for current as well as future students, giving them many platforms and opportunities for them to live up to the school motto, “Pursuit of Excellence”. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and the Kampar community. For without their relentless and undivided supports, such success, especially for such a young school, will not be possible. Our former English teacher, Mr Tiong Ngee Derk (who is currently pursuing a PhD degree at Cambridge University) did an in-depth study of WIS. His findings, published in the book “WIS Heartbeat”, sum us up as a responsive, relational and reflective school. This book will give us a head start to understand the school better and to have a glimpse of the people behind the school. I do encourage anyone who wishes to know WIS better to download an e-copy from our website. Indeed, we look forward to an exciting year ahead. We have introduced many new initiatives and programmes to “Add Value” to the learning of WIS students.
