Daejeon, Choryang 3(sam)-dong, Dong-gu, Daejeon, South Korea

Woosong is one of the largest employers of English teachers in South Korea, with over 100 international EFL teachers. Set against the mountains of Daejeon, Woosong has a student body of nearly 6000 students from South Korea and the rest of the world. Our students study a wide range of subjects, including Railroad Engineering, Culinary Arts, Multimedia, and Social Welfare. The foreign faculty at Woosong work with all of these departments and, although teaching English is their main duty, they often undertake many other roles.

University and college students come from all over Korea; most of our students live in and around Daejeon.  Student needs range from beginning English lessons to advanced adult conversation classes. General education courses are the norm, but Woosong also offers English for Specific Purpose (ESP) classes, covering such specialties as business conversation and writing.  At WLI, we also teach middle school students as well as kids.

It’s this diversity of our student body that makes a Woosong job challenging but interesting.

If you enjoy teaching in different environments to various students, then WLI is definitely the workplace of choice!

Why should you choose to teach English at Woosong? We offer our teachers a competitive salary with generous benefits, free accommodation, and an annual bonus.  Moreover, our English speaking staff offers a supportive environment that understands the needs of foreign teachers.  We also provide professional development workshops to help you get the most out of your teaching experience.

Below is a list (hardly exhaustive) of some of the reasons why teachers decide to teach with Woosong.

  • Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) Center
  • Student/Faculty Lounges and Cafeteria
  • Auditorium, Writing Center, Lecture Halls
  • Self-Access Computer Center, Research Labs
  • Professors’ Offices (computers, free Internet access
  • Resource Rooms, Copy Center, English Library

Woosong’s hiring process has two major steps:

  1. From Contact to Contract
  2. From Contract to Visa (if new visa)

As our current peak hiring times correspond with arrival dates during the last two weeks in February and the first weeks of August, applying to Woosong in either October or March will be most effective.

The process between applying and arriving in Korea can sometimes be complicated. Please make sure you understand this process in order to make it as smooth as possible.
