Yangon American International School

Yangon American International School, Yangon, Myanmar (Burma)

Description

We follow a holistic approach to teaching that builds a strong social and emotional foundation in the early years so that students can thrive academically in the later years.  Our approach instills a life-long love of learning, a sense of global awareness, and the confidence and resilience needed for students to achieve their dreams. We are enrolling students from ages 2 to 12 for the academic year beginning August 2021. Those students will advance through our school as we extend to Grade 12 and see Yangon American students graduate to top universities worldwide.

Our Early Years Village provides a child-focused and engaging environment where children enjoy structured play and learning while building strong educational foundations. Each class is led by a native English speaker who is licensed to teach in the US.

Our elementary years program is inquiry-based which engages each student and develops their curiosity, creativity and self-confidence. The curriculum maps to the International Baccalaureate (“IB”) Primary Years Program (“PYP”) as well as to the American Common Core State Standards providing students with a solid foundation for higher learning.

Our secondary years program will prepare students for success in college and in life. We plan to offer the IB Diploma Programme (“DP”) as well as Advanced Placement (“AP”) courses that provide the opportunity to graduate with credits toward university degrees. All graduating students will earn an American High School Diploma.
